Art / Plate / Proof Information

Proofs: One black and white proof will be supplied at no charge. Subsequent black and white proofs will be billed at $10 each. Hot stamp proofs will be billed at $10.00 and color proofs, when requested, will be billed at $10.00 per color. Press proofing will be done on a special quotation basis.

Engravings: A metal engraving is required for each size copy. For multi-color printing, an engraving must be made for each color. On repeat orders, any change in size, copy, etc., will require a complete new engraving. Climax reserves the right to accept or reject any engraving supplied by a customer. Engravings are priced according to the current Climax engraving price schedule.

Rubber Plates: On certain printed orders, rubber plates are required. Rubber plate charges are in addition to engraving charges and are priced according to the current Climax rubber plate price schedule.

Hot Stamping: Hot stamping and leafing requires special dies (plates) and equipment. Hot stamping should be used when opacity or brilliance of copy is desired. Hot stamp dies are priced according to the current Climax hot stamp plate price schedule.

Hot Stamping Embossing: Hot stamp embossing provides the customer with the ultimate in quality packaging, especially when done on Impressions. Not only is the image hot stamped in metallic leaf, but it is embossed into the board, allowing for quality details which cannot be duplicated with regular hot stamping or printing. Hot stamp embossing dies are individually etched by hand and are more expensive than hot stamp plates. Dies will be charged at cost, which varies according to size and intricacy of copy.

Inactive Accounts: Plates on inactive accounts will be retained for a period of 3 years. After that time, plates will be scrapped. Reactivated customers will be subject to new plate charges.

Color Variation: Paper colors and ink colors may vary slightly on different size boxes, even in the same order.

Rub and Bleed: An inherent characteristic of printed or dyed paper products is its susceptibility to color rub or bleed when exposed to abrasion or moisture.

Overrun/Underrun: All orders are subject to overruns or underruns not to exceed 15% per size.

Artwork: Black and white or electronic artwork (MacIntosh compatible) must be provided whenever possible to avoid incurring additional artwork costs.
